Sustainable Living Fair Hampton Roads, 2012

Thanks to all of our friends who came out to the Sustainable Living Fair at Webb Center on a wet weekend.

Firebending Bamboo Demonstration

We stayed warm with a propane torch, firebending bamboo both indoors and out. We sold out of bamboo pan scrapers, and did a decent trade in t shirts, too.

Now, back to work on “Mary Jane”…

Bamboo Bike Trailers

Big thanks to Nick over at Simple-City for sending us plans to a tensioned bamboo bike trailer…we’ve got to clear three more frames off the build list before we can get started, but it looks like it’ll be a fun project.

Gotta build this bike rack outta bamboo

My gut tells me that FIVE bikes might be a little much for lesser trailer hitches, but it’s an interesting design. From the 1973 National Geographic article, “The Bicycle Boom.”

Check out the baby seat on the far-left bike!

Love those Swedish Lugs

All right, so the platform shoes and halter-top dress are totally impractical for riding, but you’ve got to admit that the Crescent bicycle is pretty sweet.

Studio VeloBamboo Grand Opening, March 3rd

The move from a dirt-floor garage in Riverview to a flat, level concrete studio floor in East Coast Bikes, Ocean View, is almost finished. we’ll be holding our grand opening on Saturday, March 3rd, in conjunction with Tidewater Bicycle Association’s second annual Norfolk Chili Ride.

Stay tuned for more, exciting details!
